From these lines of direction norms of quality of waters in some countries of the community, as the United kingdom, Spain and Portugal had been established, aiming at the monitoring of waters balneares. In Brazil, the pioneers in the monitoramento who evaluate the quality of the water in the health-resorts had been the states of the Rio Grande Do Sul, Santa Catarina and So Paulo, through programs managed for the respective state ambient agencies, initiates in the decade of 70.

In the international scope, the World-wide Organization of Sade (OMS), considered international norms on the recreational water use and health, in the form of lines of direction. In accordance with OMS (1998), the first volume of this production deals with the lines of direction for waters candies and navies, approaching aspects related to the fecal pollution and quality of the water, aesthetic microorganisms gifts in the water, aspects, evaluation, among others. Beyond these lines of direction, it had the production of a practical guide, describing main characteristics and forms of boarding for the monitoramento and recreational aquatic environment evaluation, with the objective auxiliary developing countries in the creation of its national codes and to promote harmony international. Diverse they are the factors that contribute for the contamination of waters, as the presence of courses of the water flowing directly in the rivers, the inexistence of collection system and disposal of effluent domestic servants generated in the neighborhoods, increase of the population during the drawn out vacations and holidays and rain occurrence.
